On March 5th and 6th, 2001, eastern Massachusetts got nailed with a
Noreaster. The storm was hyped up as the storm of the century.
Businesses, schools, and government offices were closed on Monday, in preparation
for the storm, but the storm didn't get the memo, stalling and not really
arriving until Monday evening. But when it did arrive, it arrived.
In Waltham we got about 12" on Monday night. It took 3 of us about 2 hours to clear out most of the snow, but it kept snowing throughout the day and overnight, so Wednesday morning I had another few inches to clear. When it was all said and done, we probably got 18"-24". A lot of snow to say the least, but not the storm of the century, by any means. |
